I’ve been seeing Laura for a weekly Pelvic Therapy session for about a month now. I discovered her after years of excruciatingly painful and debilitating menstrual cramps, which in recent years had evolved into discomfort & pain during intercourse as well as during gyno visits, frequent urination, and just a general realization that there was a complete numbness and disconnection from my pelvic region. Basically if the sensation wasn’t painful, I felt nothing. A sort of heartbreaking emptiness, lack of sexual desire, feelings of brokenness.
Though I feel I have a lot more work to do with her, I wanted to share this beautiful insight and breakthrough that I had after just our second session:
Last night after our session, I felt this sort of peace wash over me. It was interesting, I was exhausted but yet at the same time it felt energizing to actually be able to experience sensations in my lady bits that weren’t painful and actually quite pleasant! I had an awareness of movement, blood circulation, warmth, tingles. I felt inspired and like a piece of me that’d been long asleep was slowly beginning to wake up.
This morning, and during the day today, I felt more motivated to accomplish tasks. Overall I’m sensing this sort of empowerment blossoming inside of me. It’s incredible!
I want people to know, other women like me to know, the powerful potential that Pelvic Therapy has. And naturally, the Therapist you choose plays a hugely important role on your road to recovery — whatever the unique reason is that you’ve sought out someone like Laura to help you. During the session, she really gives you the space to move through whatever comes up for you, and is a gentle guide. She keeps it light, and is so mindful about the pace of the work, never taking you anywhere that you don’t feel 100% ready to go.
With Laura’s help, I’m reclaiming my wholeness. My intimate relationship with my partner has improved significantly, and I know that begins with my own deeper understanding of myself and my body. I’m actually looking forward to my next menstrual cycle to see what changes have taken place! I never thought I’d hear those words come out of my mouth…but anything feels possible now.
This isn’t just physical therapy. It’s holistic, multi-faceted, and touches upon every part of me simultaneously: the physical, emotional, mental and even spiritual aspects of my being. If you’ve found yourself reading this review and are considering working with Laura, I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. I’m beyond thrilled to have discovered her, my life is forever changed for the better. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Laura!
