Essential Pelvic Health

Laura Rowan,OT/L
Occupational Therapist
Pelvic Rehab Specialist
As an Occupational Therapy graduate from Utica College of Syracuse University in 2000, I began my journey specializing in Pelvic Rehabilitation 12 years ago. My unyielding passion for Pelvic Rehab ignited with the first of many continuing education courses in Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. I discovered how effective this treatment is and just how many people suffer in silence needlessly. The need for education and awareness was immediately clear. I have been dedicated to spreading the word and aiding in healing ever since.
I treat women, men, and all gender diversities who are experiencing bladder, bowel, and sexual dysfunction as well as pelvic pain disorders. I believe my own personal experience with pelvic floor and low back dysfunction has allowed for a deeper understanding and empathy working with clients who are impacted as I was. I have overcome bladder dysfunction associated with the female athlete, and again after having 2 vaginal deliveries. I have also endured lumbosacral disc herniations with debilitating sciatic pain while caring for two small children and working full time. I know how valuable good health is for quality of life and how important it is to return to optimal function as quickly as possible!
As founder of Essential Pelvic Health, I look forward to elevating the well being of this community along side the many wonderful wellness professionals in the area. I firmly believe it takes a healing team and every individuals “recipe” is different.
I look forward to hearing your story and supporting you in your healing journey!
